Why Your Vote Matters

Local Government affects all residents—your roads, trash pickup, policing and fire protection are decided on a local level. All of us should have our voices heard when decisions on these matters are made.
In Cicero, we are at a crossroads. The construction of Micron next door to our town will dramatically change this community for decades to come. We will need smart, sustainable housing, greater commercial development, increased municipal services, and a sharp eye on future growth. We have to keep looking forward, and at the same time, don’t lose focus on the things that make Cicero the best place to live in Central New York.
WHY CHOOSE ME
My first term, (which has been abbreviated by changes in election laws) has shown me just how fantastic we are as a community, and how much farther our community can progress. Cicero can and will continue to be the area’s gem. We’re just getting started.
Here’s what I will focus on in next term:
I am proud of the accomplishments during my first year, and want to continue to push for a greater Cicero during a second term. Here is what we’ve done:
- Greater transparency in town operations. We’ve re-vamped our specialty Board appointment process to obtain a wider, more diverse pool of applicants to choose from. No more “insider” appointments.
- Better communication and outreach to residents. We have expanded both our social media and web presence in order to better keep residents up-to-date on important information, such as flooding during heavy rains, and issues with trash pickup. We also have a “Supervisor Saturday” program running every month at Kim’s diner (Rte. 11) where you can talk directly to the supervisor about issues that are important to you. And you’ll even get free coffee. No appointment necessary!
- We have received over $250,000 in New York State grants. These grants will help with driveway paving of our police building, and a new bus for our Senior Center.
- Establishment of clear lines of communication. We have worked diligently with the New York State Department of Transportation to keep us up-to-date on all paving, road closures, and any interruptions to the flow of traffic in the Cicero area. This assists us on informing the public more quickly.
- And last, but not least, we are working closely with our neighboring towns and villages to ascertain important issues that might impact our community. By establishing communications with our neighbors, we are demonstrating our commitment to the entire area as a leading Central New York town should.
VISION FOR CICERO'S FUTURE
We know that change in our area is inevitable. With the Micron facility being built over the next decade, we need vision in the Supervisor’s position to start moving us in the right direction to face what we are about to see. I am that person, and I am committed to see this through for us.
Since taking office, I have worked with developers, economic groups, builders, state officials, faith leaders, and taxpayers to define a vision for Cicero, Brewerton, Bridgeport, and North Syracuse that will guide our future. This work has consumed over 100 meetings, but this initial work will assure us of meeting our common goal. Vision is vital; I am providing that and, with your vote this November, I will continue in this pursuit. Thank you for your support.
